Heritage Church Organs
USED ORGAN ADVICE
Heritage Church Organ Company continues to find excellent used organs. These used organs are thoroughly cleaned and serviced. Each of our used church organs can be installed in a home or church.

Looking for a good used organ for your home or church? Here's some advise.

RODGERS ORGANS:
1. Buy the newest - Rodgers began making Digital organs in 1990. Organs made after 1990 are digital and sound significantly better than analog. Rodgers is excellent at stocking parts for all of these organs. Organs made before 1990 were analog. The analog organs make excellent practice instruments as you can usually find one with a great deal of features on it for far less than a digital organ.
2. Service - This is really key in buying a used organ. Who took care of it? How much was it played at the home or church? Who will take care of it now? Are there parts available for it? Rodgers is fantastic at stocking parts for all of their used organs.

ALLEN ORGANS:
1. Buy the newest - Allen began making digital computer organs around the 1970's. These organs are good for just practicing. The sounds on them are adequate but not great.
2. The newer Allen organs with the Model numbers starting with an ADC and MDS are great for homes. These organs can typically be purchased for a reasonable price and are well made organs. Typical maintenance for an older Allen organ is key contacts. Allen used an open key contact system and the key contacts get dirty easily. Also with the ADC 420 make sure that it was serviced by a well trained technician. These organs had some intermittent issues that need to be addressed by a very good technician.
3. The newer the Allen organ the better as getting parts for them in a timely manner can sometimes be difficult.
CAUTION!!!!!!!
Do not buy a used off brand. It can be very difficult to impossible to get parts for them. This would jeopardize the money that you spent on the organ. Brands like Conn, Gulbrandsen, Thomas, Wurlitzer, and Baldwin are all off brands. These companies are no longer in business and getting parts for them can be extremely difficult to impossible. Brands like AOB, Johannus, Britsen, Viscount, Gallanti, and Eminent organs are not manufactured in the USA and do not have the same quality standards as those of Rodgers and Allen. These organs are typically sold for 1/2 the price of well made organs. We strongly reccommmend that even though Rodgers and Allen are considerably more expensive, that you consider purchasing one of those two brands. QUALITY WILL ALWAYS OUTLAST PRICE ESPECIALLY IN A CHURCH!

We have not run into a Phoenix organ in our territory. We do not know much about their quality history. A recent inquiry to the factory resulted in an email from one of their sales people tauting their quality. Because there have been few instruments sold in the USA and because they have not been around for a long period of time we can not comment on the reliability of the instrument. Because of this we recommend that if you have an opportunity to purchase one be careful and make sure that it can be serviced by a local tehnician.
